The GALLIPOLI YACHT RALLY 2004 will consist of two groups in chartered yachts. The Group 1 Rally takes place along the Turkish Aegean Coast with the final destination ANZAC Cove for the 89th ANZAC Day Dawn Service at North Beach.
The Group 2 Rally participants will attend the ANZAC Day Dawn Service and take over the yachts for the cruise down the Turkish Aegean Coast.
The rally will bring together yachtsman from Australia, New Zealand and Turkey in the spirit of the ANZAC tradition.
To be conducted by prominent Australian yacht racing aficionado, Mr. Teki Dalton, the rally is surely a unique & memorable sailing event. Included in each itinerary are tours from Kusadasi, and the yacht charter will commence from Cesme and conclude at Canakkale, or vice versa, depending on your Group. The stopovers include Foca, Ayvalik, Assos (Behramkale), Bozcaada, ANZAC Cove and Canakkale.

PROGRAM April 12 to May 1 2004
Monday April 12 Depart from Australian ports
Tuesday April 13 Arrive Istanbul approximately 6.35am, transfer to the domestic terminal for the Turkish Airlines flight to Izmir. Transfer upon arrival to hotel accommodation at the Kismet Hotel in Kusadasi. Afternoon and evening free
Wednesday April 14 Full day tour of the ancient city of Ephesus, the restored houses at Yamac evleri and the Basilica of St. Paul. Own arrangements evening
Thursday April 15 Transfer to Cesme from Kusadasi. Cesme is an important resort area and the fleet will be berthed at the Setur Marina, which is overlooked by the 5 star Altin Yunus Hotel. Welcome cocktails and buffet dinner at the Altin Yunus Hotel
Friday April 16 Leg 1 from Cesme to Foca, distance 44nm. Skippers briefing 9.00am. Start at 10.00am, expected last finish 5.00pm. Foca is a small seaside town popular with the Turks but off the main tourist trail. The harbour is very protected and berthing will be arranged at the town quay
Saturday April 17 Free day for sightseeing. Cocktails and buffet dinner at a harbourside restaurant
Sunday April 18 Leg 2 from Foca to Ayvalik, distance 48nm. Skippers briefing 9.00am. Start 10.00am, expected last finish 6.00pm. Yachts will be berthed at the Setur Marina at Ayvalik, which is the newest marina on the Turkish Aegean coast. Evening free
Monday April 19 Free day for sightseeing. The important archaeological site of Pergamon can be visited from Ayvalik. Cocktails and buffet dinner
Tuesday April 20 Leg 3 from Ayvalik to Assos (Behramkale), distance 20 nm. Skippers briefing 9.00am. Start 10.00am, expected last finish time 2.00pm. Yachts will be anchored offshore. Evening free
Wednesday April 21 Free day for sightseeing. The ancient ruins of Assos date from early in the 1st millennium B.C. and sit on a 300 metre bluff above the tiny port where a number of warehouses have been converted into small hotels and a bar/restaurant. Cocktails and buffet dinner on the waterfront in Assos
Thursday April 22 Leg 4 from Assos to Bozcaada, distance 35 miles. Skippers briefing 9.00am. Start 10.00am, expected last finish 3.00pm. Yachts will be tied up to the harbour wall. Power and water is available
Friday April 23 Free day for sightseeing. Bozcaada is one of only two significant Aegean islands that are Turkish. An imposing Venetian castle, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times during its history, overlooks the port. Cocktails and dinner at a harbourside restaurant
Saturday April 24 Leg 5 Bozcaada to Anzac Cove, distance 26nm. Skippers briefing 9.00am. Start 10.00am, expected last finish 2.00pm. Briefing for Anzac Day arrangements. Finish line at Anzac Cove, move to mooring at Kabatepe Harbour
Sunday April 25 89th Anzac Day Dawn Service. Access Dawn Service location from yachts moored at Kabatepe Harbour. After Dawn Service walk to Lone Pine for the Australian memorial service. The New Zealand service at Chunuck Bair commences an hour after the conclusion of the Australian service. Continue sightseeing of the Gallipoli Peninsula, return to the yachts at leisure, overnight on board in Kabatepe Harbour Monday April 26 Early morning departure for cruise along Gallipoli coastline to Canakkale with arrival at about 12.00 noon, distance 25nm. Yachts will be tied up to harbour wall. Prepare the yachts during afternoon for hand over. Evening: Prizegiving, cocktails and buffet dinner Tuesday April 27 Yacht hand over and disembarkation at 10.00am. Transfer by coach to Istanbul at 11.00am with arrival at about 3.00pm. Register upon arrival at the Arcadia Hotel or other booked accommodation. Afternoon and evening free. Wednesday April 28 Day tour of Istanbul to include the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet, and then the St. Sophia Museum, and the Topkapi Palace, seat of the Ottoman Sultans since the 1450’s. Visit the Harem and the Imperial Treasury and the Grand Bazaar. Evening free
Thursday April 29 Sightseeing. Evening free. Some of the group departs at 8am for the Capadoccia tour
Friday April 30 Sightseeing. Evening free
Saturday May 1 Depart Istanbul for Sydney or alternative destination. Capadoccia tour participants arrive Istanbul at 5pm
